Maria Machado
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Maria Machado in the early hours of Saturday December 5th, 2020, mother to Stella, Maria Antonia (Ernest), John (Grace), Emanuel (Frances), and Chris. Grandmother to, Peter, Robert, Alex, Melissa, Chris, Marie, Madeline, Zachary, Ella, Jacob, and Christian. Great-Grandmother, to Zariah, and Rashad. Predeceased by her husband, Joao, in February 1996.
Maria, was born in Portugal in May of 1936, and immigrated to Canada in January 1972. Maria lead a simple life, devoted to her children and family and especially loved the time spent with her grandchildren.
The last few years have been hard for Maria, as health issues became a growing concern. However her incredible strength and will to be with her children and grandchildren, propelled her forward. Unfortunately, strength and will to live were no match for COVID-19 and she succumbed to the illness in the early hours of December 5th.
In order to comply with COVID-19 restrictions, a private service is taking place.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the William Osler Hospital Foundation in Maria’s memory.
