Maria Graciela Barrera

Maria Graciela Chinchilla, dearly known as Ita, Chelita, Gracielita, Hermana Gracielita, or Grace, was born on July 5, 1935, in El Adelanto (Jutiapa), Guatemala. Married to the Reverend Martin Barrera for over 60 years; mother to Telma Ruth and Neftali Gomez, Leti Josabeth and Andre Teunissen, Dora Elizabeth, Febe Judith and Oscar De La Rosa, Mefi Ottoniel, and Martin Jonatan. Grandmother to Carolina and Trevor, Sylvana and Dominic, Graciela and Marc, Amarylis and Carlos, Zara, and Samuel, and Great Grandmother to Callie. Pastored churches in El Saron (Jutiapa), Zapotitlan (Jutiapa), San Andres Itzapa (Chimaltenango), El Ovejero (Jutiapa), Chiquimulilla (Santa Rosa) and Guatemala City. Hosted the program “Cristo Viene” (Christ is Coming) for several years at Radio Rosa in Chiquimulilla. Elected Treasurer and later Vice-President of the National Association of Women of the Assemblies of God in Guatemala. Moved with her family to Toronto, Canada, in 1989, where she attended the Iglesia Evangelica Hispana and Weston Park Baptist Church. Loved sewing, helping and praying for her fellow man, and being a true friend. Met her great granddaughter Callie for the first time on August 1, twenty days before going peacefully to heaven. Our beloved Ita will be missed by her family and friends.

Casada con el Reverendo Martin Barrera por mas de 60 años; madre de Telma Ruth y Neftali Gomez, Leti Josabeth y Andre Teunissen, Dora Elizabeth, Febe Judith y Oscar De La Rosa, Mefi Ottoniel, y Martin Jonatan. Abuela de Carolina y Trevor, Sylvana y Dominic, Graciela y Marc, Amarylis y Carlos, Zara, y Samuel, y Bisabuela de Callie. Pastores de iglesias en El Saron (Jutiapa), Zapotitlan (Jutiapa), San Andres Itzapa (Chimaltenango), El Ovejero (Jutiapa), Chiquimulilla (Santa Rosa) y la Ciudad de Guatemala. Presentadora del programa “Cristo Viene” en Radio Rosa en Chiquimulilla por varios años. Electa Tesorera y posteriormente Vice-Presidenta del Concilio Misionero Femenil de las Asambleas de Dios en Guatemala. Se traslado con su familia a Toronto, Canada, en 1989, donde asistio a la Iglesia Evangelica Hispana y a la Iglesia Bautista Weston Park. Dedicada a la costura, a orar y ayudar al projimo, y a ser una buena amiga. Conocio por primera vez a su bisnieta Callie el 1 de agosto, veinte dias antes de partir al cielo. Toda su familia y amigos extrañaremos mucho a nuestra querida Ita.
