Maria De Santis

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Emerenziana De Santis (née Paletta) on July 19, 2023 at the Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital. She was a devoted wife to Giannino (deceased 2018) for 67 years and a loving mother to Miguel (Martha), Gianni (Darlene) and Robert (Catherine). She was a very proud and special Nonna to grandchildren Michael, Andrew and Nicholas.

Emerenziana (familiarly known as Maria) was born 93 years ago in Scanno, Abruzzo, Italy. She immigrated to Buenos Aires, Argentina after WWII and later came to Toronto where she enjoyed a full and happy life with her family and friends. A very spiritual person with ardent values and morals, Maria was a passionate homemaker, taking great pride and devotion in raising her three sons. Maria will be greatly missed by her many nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

Friends will be received at the Ward Funeral Home, 2035 Weston Road (North of Lawrence Ave. W.) Weston, on Sunday July 23 from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Bernard de Clairvaux Catholic Church, 1789 Lawrence Avenue West, Toronto on Monday July 24, 2023, at 10:00 am. Entombment to follow at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital - Woman & Child Foundation would be greatly appreciated by the family.
