It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved, Maria Ciufo, on July 12, 2022, at the age of 87. Born in Tufo di Minturno, Lazio, Italy, Maria embarked on the immigrant journey, reuniting with her one true love, Filippo, and made Canada her home. Together, Maria and Filippo celebrated 62 wedding anniversaries, raised two sons, welcomed two daughter-in-laws and took enormous pride in their six grandchildren.

A beacon of modesty, Maria opened her heart and home to all who knew her. As the head of her family, she united us all with her infectious smile, open door policy, willingness to host and ability to prepare a meal at the drop of a hat. Her stories often ended with a moral and we were blessed with each and every word of sound advice she offered. A meticulous seamstress, Maria never said “no” to an alteration and spent countless late nights perfecting her craft. Maria’s inner strength and conviction will forever be an inspiration to all that loved her.

Maria leaves behind her loyal husband Filippo, her children Tony (Victoria) and Angelo (Sara) as well as her grandchildren Christopher, Valentina (Gianmarco), Gabriel, Chiara, Jonathan and Simon. Forever in awe of her spirit are her brothers and sister-in-laws, Alessandro, Marianne, Romolo , Lynne and Maria. She is lovingly remembered and respected by her nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Maria’s vibrancy and unconditional love for her family will withstand the test of time and forever remain her legacy
