Passed away peacefully in her sleep in the presence of her family on Monday May 20, 2024 at the age of 86. Devoted wife of the late Vito. Proud mother of Vince (Linda), Frank (Caroline) and Joe. Cherished Nonna of Michael (Nancy), Anthony (Monica) and Evelyn. Loving Bisnonna of Aria, Acacia, Adonis and Gianluca. She will be sadly missed by her many family and friends. Maria has been reunited with the love of her life Vito.Born in Torre di Ruggiero, Italy to parents Francesco and Maria Stella.
Vito and Maria travelled back to Italy to visit family on numerous occasions. It is said that you can take the girl out of Italy but you can’t take Italy out of the girl. This was so true with Maria, as she was very proud of her roots.
Family was so important to Maria. Having her kids, Grandkids and Great Grandchildren around would bring out her radiant smile that would last for hours after. She loved to cook for her family, making her specialties like Lasagna and rice balls or baking sweets for everyone to enjoy. Vito could be found grilling meat over a charcoal grill to enjoy amongst our family while Maria tended to the other side dishes.
Maria loved being on the farm and would be up at 4 or 5 in the morning preparing bottles for the newborn goats and lambs. Collecting the eggs with the grandchildren and feeding the chickens were the highlight of Maria’s day.
Maria’s faith was extraordinary and it was her faith that got her through many difficult times. She is with God now. Rest in peace, we will love you forever.
