Maria Arminda da Silva Barros Floro, cherished mother, vovó, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2024. Born in Rio de Mouro, Sintra, Portugal, to Domingos da Silva Barros and Maria Domingas, Arminda grew up surrounded by her five siblings in a home filled with love.
Her early years took her from Barata to Lisbon, where she met the love of her life, the late José (Zeca) Floro. They married on July 6, 1958, and initially settled in Belém. In 1967, they immigrated their family to Brampton, Ontario, Canada.
Arminda was a devoted mother to Mariana (Terry McCullough) and Maria Emilia (Jim Doran), and a beloved vovó to her grandchildren: Rachel (Kyle), Emily, Tomas, Connor, and Julia. She will also be missed by her many nieces and nephews in Lisbon and the Algarve. Her home was a sanctuary of warmth and care, reflecting her deep love for her family.
Arminda’s kindness, strength, and enduring love touched everyone who knew her. Though she will be deeply missed, her spirit will forever live on in the hearts of her loved ones.
A visitation will be held at Ward Funeral Home, 52 Main St South, Brampton on Sunday September 15, 2024 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Mary's Church, 66 Main St South, Brampton on Monday September 16, 2024 at 10:30 a.m.
May her memory be a blessing, and may she rest in peace.
