Symington, Margaret ("Una") Winifred (nee McNamara)

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Una, who left us peacefully on Thursday October 5th, 2017 at Joseph Brant Hospital in Burlington, Ontario. She was 88 years old.

Born in Athenry, County Galway, Ireland. Daughter to Tom and Lilly (nee Kelly) and sister to Tom, Jerry, Betty, Nancy and Pauline. Loving wife of 55 years to Kevin, and devoted and loving mother of her 4 boys; Dermot (Debbie), Kevin (Nicole), Brian (R.I.P), and Colin (Kathy). She loved her grandchildren dearly; Matthew, Shannon, Kyle, Shane, Zaphrine, Storm and Una were the greatest joys of her life. Una will be greatly missed by her many nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

"Mrs. Symington" enjoyed seeing her boys grow up on Langside Ave. in the Pelmo Park / Weston area and was well known to the neighbourhood for her warm smiles and big heart. She was a long time member of the Catholic Women's League, tirelessly dedicated many years as a volunteer at West Park Hospital and was a proud recipient of the "30 Year Service Award" at the Canadian Cancer Society. Nothing made her happier than bringing comfort and smiles to others and she'll stay in our hearts forever and always.
Friends will be received on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at the Ward Funeral Home, 2035 Weston Rd., Toronto. Her Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at 10am at St. Phillip Neri Catholic Church, 2100 Jane St. North York. Cremation to follow.
