Reid, Margaret Anne (nee Mulligan)
Peacefully on May 3, 2015 in her 80th year. Margaret was born March 19, 1936 in Toronto Ontario Canada and was the youngest of four siblings. She was the loving daughter of Lawrence J. Mulligan (predeceased) and Anna Marie Sweeney (predeceased) and sister to Larry (predeceased). Margaret is survived by her two sisters, Mary Margaret (Molly) and Bill (predeceased) Callaghan, Joan and Jack (predeceased) Williams. She will be sadly missed by her 3 children and spouses, Sandra (Blair) Tim (Mihyon) and Linda (Steve). Margaret will also forever be in the hearts and minds of her 6 grandchildren Ashlie, Amanda, Tiffany, Chelsea, Sam and Nicole and 5 her great grandchildren, Tristan, Amarie, Vinessa, Neveah and Xander.
Margaret spent several years raising her children and then returned to work for companies such as Benjamin Moore and Consumers Distributing where she finished her career as the assistant to the Vice President.
Mom spent many precious moments with her grandchildren and great grandchildren never missing a birthday celebration. Each and every grand baby has a piece of moms hand knit something; a hat, mitts ,scarf or some even may still have a blanket or two hidden in a closet. Her daily pass-time included, long walks, reading books in the park and floating in a pool. Mom was very fond of taking many sight seeing trips all over Ontario and sometimes even to the USA.
Margaret was an amazing talented artist with several decades of beautiful painted canvases that adorn the walls of many of our homes. She found a great peacefulness from her painting.
Moms was also a very frugal women. She would find all kinds a ways to squeeze a nickel. Mom should have patented recycling years ago. You could find vintage versions of tupperware in every cub board on any floor of her home. Bacel, Chapman’s and Fryers were among her favourite container’s for flour, oatmeal, raisons, chocolate chips and anything that needed storage. You could find glass jars of small items like left over screw’s nails and even buttons. Mom never threw out elastic bands or plastic bags even those small plastic tabs on the bread bags were reused. Does anyone need any???
Margaret had a tremendous amount of tenacity, compassion and was a great inspiration to all. Margaret was a mother, grandmother, great grandmother, a wife and a friend. She has touched so many lives and given so much of herself for others. We will miss you very much and your memory will live on through our memories of you.
A special thank you to all the Doctors and staff at both Joseph Brant Hospital in Burlington where mom lived for 8 months after her stoke and to Wood Hall Park Long Term Care in Brampton for their compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke foundation would be appreciated.
