Margaret Murray

MURRAY, Margaret Emma (nee Fraser) of Oakville passed away peacefully at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital on Wednesday November 29, 2017, in her 92nd year. Margaret was born July 9, 1925 in Pictou Nova Scotia to parents William Fraser and Margaret (nee Harris). Beloved wife of the late William Murray (1979) and predeceased by daughter Margaret (1966), son Robert (1984) and her brother Joe (1941). Margaret will be deeply missed by her children, Glenn, Bruce, Jane and Scott. Nine adored grandchildren: Lauren (Andrew Levasseur), Grant, William, Heather, Ted (Nadia), Bryan, Robert, Colin, and Jocelyn. Three great grandchildren: Josephine, Pascale and Norah. Son and daughters-in-law: Sarah, Holly, John McNamara and Kate. She is lovingly remembered by her brother Jim Fraser (Ruth), brother-inlaw Don Murray (Grace) and many nephews and nieces. Margaret followed in her mother’s footsteps and studied Applied Arts at Mount Allison. She married her sweetheart Bill Murray in 1949. She excelled as a serial “home maker” for the growing family as they moved between Ontario, Iowa and Michigan to follow Bill’s career. She loved meeting new people and never lost her inquisitive spirit even when facing multiple bouts of breast cancer. The last fifty years have been spent in beautiful Oakville enjoying membership at Knox Presbyterian Church, The Oakville Club, playing bridge, volunteering at the May Court club, travelling, and spending time with friends, family and her faithful dogs. The family wishes to thank those close friends who regularly supported Margaret. Flowers are respectfully declined. Per Margaret’s wishes, a private family Service will be held. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice or to Mount Allison University’s Joe Fraser (Class of 1944) Memorial Scholarship https://www.mta.ca/esp/
