MARGARET ELIZABETH HOWELLS (1926-2020)
Peacefully, in her 95th year, our loving mother/grandmother departed from us on September 25, 2020.
Margaret was born in Flos Twp., near Elmvale, Ontario, to Reginald and Ruth French (nee McWatters). She is predeceased by her beloved husband Daniel Simpson Howells, and her siblings – Jetta, Ross, Alvin and Ilene. She is survived by her three children – Christopher (Patricia), David (Carolyn), and Margaret (Charles). Grandmother Margaret also leaves behind her grandchildren, David Jr., Jenna (David), Matthew, and Daniel.
Margaret stayed at home and raised her children with love and devotion through their early years. When they were well settled in school, she returned to the workforce as a bank teller at the CIBC for many years. But her true profession was that of being a caring mother to her children, and an engaged and loving grandmother to her four grandchildren. Her life goals were not to travel and see the world, but rather to make her house a home, and a place for family to gather for meals and celebrations, lively conversation, and laughter. These are the things that brought joy to Margaret’s life. To her family, friends, and colleagues, she was well-known for her kindness, cheerfulness, and engaging nature. While Margaret’s declining years took many of her memories away, we are comforted by our personal memories of her that live in our hearts and minds.
The family would like to express their sincere thanks for all of the wonderful care that was extended to our mother/grandmother at Chartwell Gibson LTC. The staff looked after Mom with attention to her every need. Their personalized care gave Mom the opportunity to enjoy the last months of her life in a “home-like” atmosphere, with the freedom to share her love for life with her new community of friends. She was quite popular there, and was known for her sense of humour.
A private ceremony (due to Covid restrictions) will be held on October 1, 2020. In lieu of flowers, Donations are being accepted to Heart and Stroke Foundation, or the charity of your choice.
