On December 16th, 2020, at 12:16 AM, Margaret Evelyn Bereznick (nee McEwan) passed away surrounded by the loving support of her close family. She reluctantly gave in to the forces of nature that she had fought off so many times before in order to realize her 94th birthday.
Margaret is predeceased by her loving husband Alexander, her mother Martha McEwan (nee Adams), her father Samuel McEwan, her sister Grace, and her brothers Sam, Gordon, George, and William. She is survived by her son David and his children Sheldon and Aaron, stepson Stefan, and partner Silvana, and her son Gregg and his son Cameron, his daughter Megan, and his wife Tricia.
Margaret lived life as a fiercely independent woman who, through her role as matriarch of the family, advocated for everyone. She had a significant presence that will be greatly missed as she gave love and support to all. Margaret continually demonstrated her strength of character and her wisdom that she gained through growing up in the great Depression and supporting the war effort. Her life was full of rich experiences that taught all she met to focus on resiliency and positivity to achieve one’s true potential. Donations in her name are welcome at the Ontario Rett Syndrome Association. An event will be planned for the post-pandemic to celebrate her heritage through an authentic Irish Wake.
