It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Manuel Almeida on Monday, February 6th, 2023 at the age of 70. Beloved husband of Laurinda for 47 wonderful years; dear father to his cherished Paula (Paul), Marco (Kinga), and Danny (Felicia); and devoted grandfather to his little best friends Preston, Sofia, Phoenix, Leila. He will be deeply missed by many siblings, nieces, nephews, admired friends and extended family.
Born to Antonio and Custodia (nee Gomes) in Portugal, Manuel had the privilege of meeting his love at the age of 11 in school. Manuel proudly served in the Portuguese Military in Mozambique, before moving to France for three years. In 1975, Laurinda and Manuel married and welcomed their first-born Paula. On Paula’s first birthday, the small family traveled to Canada in 1978, where they had their two boys Marco and Danny, and have been settled ever since.
In Canada, Manuel began his own tiling business, which grew over the years and has now been passed down to his sons following his retirement; and four years ago, he was able to build his dream home and farm where he could spend his time with his chickens, gardening, and with his family and friends.
Manuel leaves a legacy many people can admire. He was a hard-working man with energy like no other. He dedicated his life to his family and friends, as he is the glue that holds his family together; always ready to lend a helping hand. Manuel was a friend you could count on for anything you needed at any moment. He loved to have everyone around him, and was always ready for a party, dancing, or any gathering with food and music. He brought a smile, energy, and joy to everyone around him. Things won't be the same without him.
Visitation will take place on Friday, February 10th at Ward Funeral Home, 52 Main Street South, Brampton, from 2-4pm and 6-9pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 101 Malta Avenue, Brampton, on Saturday, February 11th at 10:00am. Entombment will follow at Assumption Cemetery.
Forever in our hearts.
