MADELINE WHILLIER (nee DUHAMEL) Suddenly and peacefully at home, on Saturday, November 5, 2016, at the age of 88. She was restful sitting in her favourite rocking chair, listening to her radio program, and surrounded by pictures of her loving family. Predeceased in 1958 by her cherished husband Thomas Whillier, but never remarried, after the tragic loss of the love of her life. Honoured mother of Florence (Andy), Thomas (Sue), and Ron (Petia). Cherished Grandmother, “Gran”, of Laura (Paul), Lisa (Cameron), Tina (Chris), Tania, Carla (Alain), and Thomas (Rachel). Beloved Great Grandmother of Kaitlyn, Ethan, Ryan, Matthew, Taylor, Evan, and Brooke. Survived by her sister Carmel (Gar), and sister-in-law Yvette. Predeceased by her parents Joseph and Florence Duhamel and her brothers and their spouses Rene (Germain), Gilbert, Raymond (Betty), Gus (Doris), and Marc. Loving Aunt of many nieces and nephews, cousins, and long-time friends.
Born and raised in New Liskeard, Ontario in a French-Canadian community, she later moved to Toronto. Weston, a neighbourhood in Toronto, is where she moved to with her “one and only” Thomas Whillier, married 70 years ago this week, and where she spent the remainder of her life.
Friends and family will be received at WARD FUNERAL HOME, 2035 Weston Rd, Toronto, on Saturday, November 12, 2016 from 9 a.m. until the time we celebrate Madeline’s life in the chapel at 10 a.m. Following the service, guests are invited to the interment at Sanctuary Park Cemetery (a 4 min. drive), 1570 Royal York Rd, Etobicoke, where she will be reunited with her husband Thomas. Immediately following, guests are invited to remain for a reception luncheon in the lounge at Ward Funeral Home.
Online memories and condolences are encouraged and welcomed.
