She will be reunited with her parents, Giuseppe and Maria, as well as her husband, Salvatore, and brothers, Frank, Donato and Anthony. She will be sorely missed by her four children, Rose (Terence, deceased) Howarth, Ben (Diane), Joe, and Donna (Carmelo) Scaffidi. She will always be cherished by her grandchildren, Terry (Barbara), David (Kathrina), Johanna (Jeff) Stewart, Michael, and Samantha, as well as by her great-grandchildren, Brett, Kyle, Chad, Sean, Faith, James, Eve, Peter, and Julian. Luisa’s presence will be deeply missed by her siblings Iolanda (Agostino, deceased) Conte, Remo (Rita), Albert (Marion), and Lina (Domenic) Pallotta, as well as by her sisters-in-law Antonietta (Anthony, deceased) Palumbo, Fiorentina (Donato, deceased) Palumbo, and Antonietta (Frank, deceased) Palumbo.
Luisa was born on March 16, 1924, in Roccamorice, Italy. Growing up as the eldest of eight children in a rural community, Luisa dutifully upheld responsibilities essential to the survival of her family. While maintaining these responsibilities through the economically uncertain times of pre-war Italy, and the tumultuous era of World War II, Luisa developed her defining traits of selflessness, patience, and familial dedication. In 1950, Luisa and Salvatore started a new way of life in Toronto, Canada. After persevering through their initial years in Canada, they established a family and home. Luisa became a licensed day-care provider, and was affectionately devoted to the children in her care. She was an active member in her home parish of Immaculate Conception Church for over fifty years. Involvement in her parish community included the Third Order of St. Francis, the St. Vincent de Paul Society, the Tricolore Choir and Radio Maria Canada.
Luisa’s graceful and charitable demeanour easily attracted others to her. Her commitment to her Christian faith, as well as her good-hearted nature and love of music, inspired everyone who knew her.
