Luis, in his 98th year, passed away peacefully on August 30, 2022. Born in Capelas, Sao Miguel, Azores, Luis was one of three children, predeceased by his older brother Manuel.
Prior to moving to Brampton with his wife Maria da Conceicao (May 18, 1926 - April 5, 1981) in 1970, Luis first worked as a transit driver in Sao Miguel before embarking on his 25-year career at Sara Lee. With a true passion for nature, Luis loved to feed the birds, and tend to his fruit trees, grape vines and vegetable gardens.
Luis is survived by his younger brother Jose Maria, his daughters Alda (Eduardo) Janeiro and Graciana (Daniel) Soares, and his sons John (Lucy), Guilherme—aka Billy (Ana), Fernando (Karen), Joe and Tony (Helena). Luis also leaves behind 14 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
The family is grateful for the care Luis received from the entire team at Maple Grove Care Community.
In memory of Luis, donations to the charity of your choice are welcome in lieu of flowers.
