Lucy Wheeler

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Lucy Wheeler, in her 92nd year, after a lengthy illness. Lucy protected, nurtured, and loved many people in her various roles as a daughter, wife, mother/grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. As a kind-hearted woman of strong faith, yet modest means, Lucy found a way to give generously to charity and those in need throughout her life.

A teacher by profession, Lucy always went the extra mile for her students. This continued in her retirement, especially when it came to her grandson Cory. Lucy encouraged young people to follow their passion and offered them a confidential, and non-judgmental, ear to help them navigate the complexities of life. This helped many young people to grow and mature into happy and productive adults who are now giving back to society in many walks of life.

Lucy was like a fine wine......... she aged very well. Even in her platinum years she kept her primary caregiver (daughter Petra) and others laughing with her quick wit and sense of humour. She was very resilient and brought her "A" game to every situation. After living a full and active life with family and friends of many generations, Lucy now joins her loved ones in eternal peace. This includes her loving husband Peter, parents(Clement & Ancie), sisters Ida and Millie, many friends and relatives, as well as her family pet Pullet.

Lucy will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by many people whose lives she touched, including her loving daughter Petra (Alan), precious grandson Cory(Alanna) loving sisters Hilary (Leslie) and Wilma (Tony), godchildren (Charlie, Vicky, Antonio), and her many cousins, nieces, nephews, students, friends and caregivers.

Family and friends will be received at the Ward Funeral Home "Brampton Chapel" on Monday from 4:30 - 8:00 p.m. Please RSVP for visitation.

Due to the current circumstances surrounding COVID-19 a private Mass of Christian Burial will be held. A recording of Mrs. Wheeler's funeral service will be available in the days that follow and will be posted here on the Book of Memories.
