With a short illness Lorraine passed away peacefully at home with her loving daughter by her side. She was a long time employee of Maple Leaf Meats, where she retired at the age of 67.
Predeceased by husband Thomas Birmingham, parents, Thomas and Elizabeth Peters, brother William Peters, sister in Law Stella Mackey and brother in law Wayne Reddy, mother and father In law Michael and Josephine Birmingham, brother and sister in laws David Birmingham, Francis and Agnes Birmingham, Robert and Patricia Keough Chest and Joan Abbott and William Sprauge, Lorraine Kennedy and Dorothy Perron.
Niece and nephews Janet Birmingham, Randy and Michael Keough and great niece Emily Michelin.
Left to mourn is her daughter Leslee (Ernest) her beloved grandson Daniel. Her siblings Brendan (Catherine) Peters , Felix (Janet Forbes) Peters, Brian Peters, John (Elizabeth) Peters, Anthony (Jackie Whiffen )Peters, Robert (Marlene) Peters, Mary (Fred) Benson, Rita (Joseph) Travers, Donna (Harv Chaulk). Her brother and sister in law; Lew (Len) Birmingham Roger (Barb) Birmingham, Hughie Kennedy and Paul Perron. Her sister in laws Mary Birmingham , Melly (Al) Hearn, Dorothy Ann Birmingham. Many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Family will be accepting visitors at Ward Funeral Homes Weston Chapel (2035 Weston Road, Toronto) on Tuesday July 16, 2024 from 2:00-9:00 p.m. and funeral service on Wednesday July 17, 2024 10:30am. Followed by burial at Beechwood cemetery.
Lorraine was a hard working and very independent individual who took pride in the job she did and never back down from a task.
She grew up in a small fishing community in Newfoundland to Thomas and Elizabeth she was number 5 of 11 kids.
She had only one daughter and one grandson who she was the light of her life.
In lieu of flowers the family request you make a donation to a charity of your choice.
The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at Humber River Hospital and especially, Dr. Caryl who help make Lorraine’s last wishes come true letting her be able to stay at home.
