Lorenzo Giuseppe Cicco peacefully passed away on Wednesday November 28th, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. He was 83 years old.
To say that Lorenzo was a hardworking man would be a true understatement. He left his home in Martirano, Catanzaro, Italy to seek prosperity in Canada at the young age of 19 in the mid 1950’s. He worked very hard in his life for his family and took great pride in everything he did. He always said that “the morning makes the day” and that meant getting up before the roosters at the crack of dawn.
His greatest attribute was his love and devotion for his family. Lorenzo could capture the attention of everyone in the room when reciting a life story or just to offer advice. He often said that he could write a book about his many life experiences. He was kind, generous and charismatic. He was loved and respected by all who knew him. He will be greatly missed by his wife Ida, his three daughters, Palma, Nadia, Maria and her husband Tony, his three granddaughters Olivia, Isabella and Adrianna, his sister Assunta, many nieces, nephews, compare, comare and countless friends. He is now reunited in Heaven with his parents and brothers and sisters who passed before him.
We will all miss his never-ending support, encouraging ways, his ability to bring everyone together, his spirit for life and always letting us all know that “we’re number one”. He will be forever missed and never forgotten. He will always be our number one!
If so desired, donations can be made in his memory to either The Heart and Stroke Foundation, Kidney Foundation or The Palliative Care Unit at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre.
