Lois Elizabeth Short
(nee Cooper)
June 21, 1931 – April 7, 2020
Lois Elizabeth died peacefully at the Village of Humber Heights with her daughter and son (virtually) by her side. Beloved wife of the late Alan Short (d. 1998).Dearly loved by her daughter Janet (Graham Brewer) and son David (Christina).Awesome Grandma to Aidan and Caitlyn, as well as assorted dogs. The coolest Aunt Lois to various nieces and nephews.A good friend to many. The happy owner of avery contented cat “Girl”.Predeceased by her brother Andrew and sister Norma.
Lois moved to London from Montreal in the 1950’s to work for Bell Canada. She met Alan in London, and had a rich and fulfilling life with lots of fun and good laughs. There are so many happy memories of good times at the cottage on Lake Huron and at various events and holidays with friends and family. She also enjoyed a Tuesday get together with a special group of ladies“Les Girls” for over 60 years. Our mom so valued the many friendships and connections she made over the years; she always loved a little chat, a kind word or a laugh.
The family wishes to thank those who provided care to Lois over the last 4 years, at Richmond Woods in London and subsequently following her move to Toronto at the Village of Humber Heights. Although the last 2 years in particular have had their challenges there was usually a laugh or a funny moment to be shared.
Lois made regular contributions to various charities, and she also spent many years as a volunteer at the London Health Sciences Centre as well at St. Paul’s Cathedral, London. Therefore for those who wish, a donation to a charity of their choice would be appreciated.
We will miss watching those Lake Huron sunsets with our mom but her “day is done”…internment and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
