Lochiel Parry Cameron, a marine engineer and long-time resident of Brampton, Ontario passed away on May 22, 2022 at the age of 82 years.
Lochiel is survived by his wife of 55 years Olga (nee Carter). He will be remembered always by his sons Geoffrey (Germaine), Andrew and Richard (Tammie) and his grandchildren Reese, Declan, Sarah and Christopher. Lochiel will be treasured always by his sisters, brother, brothers-in-law and many nieces and nephews in Canada, England and Australia.
Lochiel was born on April 18, 1940. He was raised by his parents Clarence and Kathleen and enjoyed a joyous childhood with his seven brothers and sisters. He sailed the seas and spoke fondly of his travels on the ships. Lochiel met Olga in the early 1960’s, they married, began a family and then immigrated to Canada in 1972 to begin a new life adventure. Lochiel worked as a Maintenance Engineer at Canada Carbon for many years and developed his skills as an expert of all trades. Loch’s talents for building, design and engineering were remarkable and much of his knowledge and skills were self-taught. He was known to be able to fix or resurrect anything and everything and to keep every last bolt or screw “just in case.”
Lochiel was a devoted father and grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with his family, working on the Cameron family tree, traveling, the great outdoors and working with his hands. Loch’s heart was very large and he was known to do anything for other people at the drop of a hat. “Lightening Loch” will be remembered for his sense of humour, his ability to weave extravagent stories and his willingness to take a risk and to embrace all things new.
He will be deeply missed by his family and friends and all who knew him.
A special thank-you to the staff at William Osler Hospital for their care over the last months. A family funeral service is scheduled for May 26, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the Ward Funeral Home in Brampton, Ontario.
