Leonardelli, Livio
A musician. A teacher. A friend. A son. A brother. A nephew. A husband. A father. A nonno.
Livio Leonardelli, the light of our lives, was born in “the country of Italy, in the northern region of Trentino-Alto Adige, in the Province of Trento, in the city of Spormaggiore on May 2nd 1938.” He had two beautiful parents, Angelina and Giovanni Leonardelli, along with 4 loving siblings: Paolo Leonardelli, Mary Mansley, Rita O’Driscoll, and his late brother Remo Leonardelli. He dedicated 4 years of his life to the seminary where he devoted time to his faith. In June of 1954, he and his family moved to Canada. The transition was difficult but when Livio heard the band at St. Michael’s College, he fell in love with music, and the trumpet became his saving grace. Through his studies at university, he continued with private music lessons and took exams through the Royal Conservatory of Music. This passion led him to his career as a musician. Maestro Livio Leonardelli, what a musician you were. Music was his one love, until Livio met the ultimate love of his life, Lori, and 3 years later, on August 24, 1963, they married in the Catholic Church. On November 8th, 1964, Lori and Livio experienced the best day of their lives when they welcomed their baby girl, Sandra Leonardelli, to the world. Not long after, on June 5, 1967, the second angel of their life, Michael Leonardelli, was welcomed to the family. They were and always will be the proudest parents. As for their children, they are equally as proud of their parents. Both Sandra and Michael married and gave birth to what became his favorite part of everyday, his beautiful grandchildren: Kristen (July 11, 1990), Lauren (October 26, 1993), Stephanie (July 7, 1998) and Alessia (November 15, 2000). What a wonderful world it can be when you find what you love and do a lot of it. Livio’s passionate soul, kind heart, and contagious smile will live on forever. He has not only touched the lives of his beloved family members, but every student, teacher, band member, and audience. Nonno Livio, you truly made this a wonderful world.
