It is with sadness in our hearts yet with profound gratitude for all he gave us, we announce the passing of Lino DeBiasio (Masonetta) at the age of 91.
He will be missed by his wife Antoinette with whom he would have celebrated 65 years of marriage in June. He was a beloved father to Louise (Sergio) Peter (Laurie) and Paul. Lino was adored by his grandchildren Mauro, Martina (Mike) Marcus (Christina), Michael (Amelia) and Lucas (Ariana) and Olivia. He will be missed by his beloved sister Vittoria in San Quirino along with his nephews, niece, and their families.
At the age of 19 Lino arrived like a lot of immigrants from Italy with no possessions but with the desire for a better life. He met Antoinette and built a family. He worked hard in the construction industry until he was 75 but he always considered himself a farmer at the core. Together with his son Paul he tended beautiful gardens every summer filled with tomatoes, vegetables, garlic and “rucola” always sharing with his family this abundance.
Lino was a breath of fresh air, a man that radiated positivity, a man full of mischief and laughter who always greeted you with a smile and a “carry on”. He loved to dance and have fun, and nothing made him happier than sitting around his kitchen table listening to Italian music and sharing stories with his family making us all laugh (most especially his grandchildren). Memories of making sauce and wine in the garage and seeing him on his bike in the neighborhood will forever fill our hearts with warmth and fondness.
Lino taught the pillars of life by example, humility, kindness, the value of hard work for an honest day’s pay and most importantly the value of family. He was our special light, and he leaves behind the gift of beautiful memories. He lived a life that served as a foundation for his children and grandchildren and his lessons and spirit will always be with us.
As Lino would always say: ‘Chi va piano, va sano, e va lontano.’
