Liliane St-Jean Yelle passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 14, 2015, three weeks after having celebrated her 100th birthday.
Liliane had a remarkable passion for life and learning, and a resilience that defied the odds of fate countless times. She was born and raised in an era when the highest standard of dress, decorum and manners were expected of everyone, always. She was never shy to share these truths with one and all. At the same time, her natural curiosity and intelligence made her an avid fan of 21st century technology including the internet, Facebook and Skype.
Liliane is survived by her daughter, Marie-Suzanne (Riccardo), her son Jean ;and her grandchildren, Veronique (Claude), Jean-Simon, Michael, Lorraine (Charlie) and Nicholas; and six beautiful great-grandchildren, Gregoire, Clarisse, Vallier,Charlotte, Avery and Reese. Her beloved husband, Roland, and beloved son, Pierre, had each predeceased her.
At the age of 95, Liliane moved from Montreal to Burlington, Ontario to be close to her daughter. Liliane's family will be forever grateful to the wonderful and endlessly caring staff at the Sunrise of Burlington who, with kindness and grace, allowed Liliane to live every day in comfort and dignity. She took great interest in the lives of her care givers and their families and developed close bonds with them and many of the residents with whom she became good friends.
A memorial service for family and friends will be held in Montreal at a later date. Donations in Liliane's memory may be made to the Ste Anne's Hospital Foundation (www.fondationHSA.ca) or the True Patriot Love Foundation (www.truepatriotlove.com) in support of care for Canada's veterans.
