Licia Noemi Pasianotto
On Sunday April 17, 2022, Licia Noemi Pasianotto nee Micelli passed away aged 91, at Villa Leonardo Gambin, Woodbridge Ontario.
Licia was born on November 5, 1930 in the village of Orgnano in the province of Basiliano/Udine, Italy. She was the eldest of 4 children born to Iside and Giuseppe Micelli. She grew up on a farm with her family and learned to sew from her grandfather who was a tailor. Before coming to Canada she worked as a seamtress making uniforms. Licia was engaged to Pino Pasianotto before he immigrated to Canada in 1954. In 1955 Pino sent money back to Italy to have Licia join him in Toronto. She landed in Halifax October 3, 1955 and made her way by train to Toronto. Licia and Pino were married on October 29, 1955, at Immaculate Conception Church in Toronto. They were married for 64 years until Pino’s death in 2020. They raised four children together – Iside (Didi), Carmen, Stephen and Vivian- in the home they purchased in 1959 on Cayuga Avenue. She was a stay at home Mom excelling at making wonderful meals including hot lunches for her school age children. She also made all her own and her children’s clothes initially on a second hand Singer pedal sewing machine and then on a Singer electric sewing machine in the late 1960’s. Once the kids were older she worked outside home as a banquet waitress and cook. After retiring she was never happier than baking cookies and having tea parties with her grandchildren.
Licia is survived by her four children Didi, Carmen (Lorenzo), Stephen (Eloise), and Vivian (Denis); her eight grandchildren Michael, Matthew (Cinzia), Julia (Andrew), Katharine (Nathan), Robert, Emma (Daniel), David (Concetta), Daniel and two great-grandchildren Allegra and Arabella. Licia also leaves behind brothers, sister, cousins, nieces, nephews, brothers in-law, sisters in-law and their families in both Italy and Canada along with friends.
Special thanks to the staff and volunteers at Villa Leonardo Gambin for the excellent care Licia received. We are grateful for their compassion and kindness.
