Leonie Violet Bailey nee Stephenson passed away on the evening of March 2nd at Etobicoke General Hospital in the presence of her loving husband Neville, Sister-in-law Verma, daughter Carolyn and grandkids Alisa & Khalil, while sons and daughter were on their way.
She was born during the depression era to Mother, Elizabeth Smith & Father, Herman Stephenson, predeceased by both, as well as siblings Dickie, Lloyd, Georgie Luther & Stanley and she is survived by her sister Mable and brother Henry as well as all her siblings’ children and grandchildren in Jamaica, England & United States.
She is the wife of Neville Bailey (m. 1975), mother to George,Lisa,Herman, Fay and bonus mother to Erica, Derrick and Rowan.
She was also the proud Grandmother of Sydonie, Shaun, Khalil, Alisa, Jordan, Marcus, Stephen,Jaleel, Jhamar, Renee, Kaitlin, Xavier, Natalee, Nichelle, Shania & Aiden. Great Grandmother to Mikhaila, Amelia, Elijah, Kayla and Nataleah.
She was also a resident of West Side Revera nursing home for the last 4 1/2 years to which she had formed many bonds and will be missed by staff and residents.
Leonie had a hidden talent for art and was always known to have either her search word puzzle book close at hand, to keep her mind sharp or her Daily Bread Devotional book to keep her faith close to God.
She also enjoyed being visited by her family and grandkids, getting pampered and fed by Fay, Erica, Bev and Alisa, and also getting cheeky with Bibi & Trisha.
Most importantly, she was also appreciated by many for her immeasurable generosity to help out others.
