NUNES, Leonardo

It is with heartfelt sorrow that we share news of the passing of our Dad, Leonardo Nunes, on Monday August 29, 2022.

Leonardo followed the love of his life - Maria de Lurdes – to Toronto in July 1965, and they married within weeks. Loving father to Delphine, Margaret, David, and Nancy.

He will be dearly missed by his grandchildren Ashley, Megan, Brianna, Nicholas, and Denzel.

Leonardo was the youngest of 18, and was predeceased by all his brothers and sisters. He loved to tell us stories of them and shared his fondest memories. Leonardo loved being with family, and enjoyed travelling to see those that lived in Alberta, Manitoba, Rhode Island as well as back home in Sao Miguel, Acores.

Over the years, he ventured off on vacations with Mom to Mexico as she loved the resorts. Dad’s other favorite past-times included: the horses he had back home, many years of Mom’s homemade Portuguese meals, playing (and often counting) cards, watching wrestling & soccer games, teasing us with his rhymes & riddles, and eating chocolate, lots of it!

But above all, Dad loved his wife.

He saved his last breath to call for his Maria de Lurdes...

A visitation will be held at Ward Funeral Home (52 Main Street South, Brampton) on Thursday September 1st, 2022 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A funeral mass will take place on Friday September 2nd, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church (66A Main Street South, Brampton) with entombment to follow at Assumption Catholic Cemetery (6933 Tomken Road, Mississauga).
