Leonard Ritchie
February 19, 1940 - March 31, 2017
Surrounded by family at his home in Peel Village, Brampton, Len’s health challenges came to an end. Beloved husband of Shirley (nee Grafton) for 53 years, and devoted father of Suzanne (James Raymond), David (Jacqueline), and Geoffrey (Elena Mazur). A dearly loved Grandpa to Nathan, Benjamin, Polina and Vera. His unconditional love for family was felt by all, including Eula and Ron Prendergast, Donna Denny, Betty and Sandy Dodd and his many nieces, nephews and their children, who loved Uncle Len’s smile and sense of humour. Family was everything to him.
In his retirement years, Len’s priority was spending time with his grandchildren, caring for his lawn and garden, and taking Shirley for drives in the country. His love of cars, racing and the Maple Leafs was intense. He enjoyed the friendships made through the Brampton Probus Clubs and his Inglewood Drive neighbours, many of whom became lifelong friends. St. Paul’s United Church was an important part of his life for over 50 years.
Heartfelt appreciation to those who cared for him, especially Dr. D. Hedley and team at Princess Margaret Hospital’s Pancreatic Clinic, Dr. J. Friefeld, the Hematology and ICU staff at Toronto General Hospital. Care in the home by Dr. A. Kelly and Amanda, and the team from CCAC and St. Elizabeth’s was exceptional. Supported by Rev. Richard Choe of St. Paul’s, and family, friends and neighbours – his life was blessed and enriched by so many.
