LEILA EVADNE FRANCIS (Nee: LEANDER)
April 8, 1961 – June 9, 2022

It is with profound sadness that the family of Leila Evadne Leander-Francis announce her sudden passing on June 9th, 2022 at age 61.

Leila was born in London, England to Leland Leander and the late Yvonne Leander (nee Erskine). She immigrated to Toronto, Canada, at 9 years old in October, 1970. She studied at Humber College and George Brown College. Leila’s joy was rooted in family. Her dream was to get married and raise a large family. Leila was an exceptional wife and mother. She happily dedicated her life to being a central figure in the lives of her children. Anyone who knows her children knows that she was a star in their eyes, and that’s all that ever mattered to her.

Leila was a beloved member of the Church of the Advent and then subsequently St. Mary and Martha Anglican Church. Leila was fond of children and spent most of her life working with them as a longtime school-bus driver and volunteer Sunday School teacher. Her passion for serving led her to do monumental things for her church, work, and community.

Leila is survived by her father: Leland Leander; husband: Norman Francis; children: Michael (Stephanie), Tameka (Andre), Nathan, Nelson, and Matthew; grandchildren: Tiona, Peyton, and Jaylen; bonus grandchildren: Kamane and Thea; sisters: Lilian and Yvette; nephew/nieces: Damien, Felysha, and Jénelle; her uncles, aunt, cousins and numerous friends.

Leila believed in God and held strong to her faith and moral values throughout her life. Leila’s many interests and hobbies included her love for crafts. She particularly enjoyed cake decorating, music, and being with her friends and family.

We love her, and she will be greatly missed!
