Laurinda Marinho

Born in Lisbon Portugal, at the age of 82, died peacefully on Monday, September 19th, 2022, surrounded by her loved ones.

Laurinda was born on August 21, 1940 to Angela and Fernando de Almeida, where she lived in Travessa da Nazare, Lisbon until the age of 20. In 1960, she met the love of her life Julio Marinho and they wed 6 months later. Together they have two children, Julio Fernando born in 1961 and Isabel Maria in 1964.

In 1977, Laurinda and Julio came to Canada with their two kids, where they created a life in Etobicoke, Canada. After spending 14 years here, in 1977, they returned to their life in Melides, Portugal where they spent 25 years enjoying their retired life together. She enjoyed celebrating her birthday, cooking, her friend’s company, spending time at the beach and taking care of her husband anyway she could. When they were not in Portugal, they made the trip to Canada to spend time with their kids and grandchildren.

She is survived by her children Isabel (Peter), Julio (Jane) as well as her grandchildren Justin, Courtney (Craig), Jake, Daniel, Ashley, and her darling great grandson William. She also leaves behind her sisters Victoria (Antonio), Lordes and her nephews and nieces.

Laurinda is predeceased by her parents Angela and Fernando, husband Julio brother-in-law Fernando and her dearest godson and nephew, William Santos.

Visitation will be held at Ward Funeral Home Brampton on Friday, September 23rd between the hours of 6-8:30pm, followed by a funeral mass on Saturday September 24th at 10:30am at Holy Cross Church in Georgetown.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Cancer Society or Parkinson’s Canada. There will be a private cremation burial at a later date.
