We are very sad to announce the passing of our mother, Laura, on September 30, 2021 in her 92nd year. Laura is reuniting with her loving husband of 54 years, Howard. She will be sadly missed by daughters Judy, Cindy (Peter), Penny (Ted) and grandchildren Dawn (Eric), Brian, Samantha, Erica, Diane and Stephen. Laura was an excellent 5 pin bowler in her younger years and continued, along with Howard, to collect winning trophies for many of their married years. Her competitive spirit carried through with many rousing games of euchre or cribbage with family and friends. She had a lucky hand at the slot machines on her occasional visits to a casino and the Bingo games at Kipling Acres as well. Her love of travel took them to many destinations whether it be in a tent trailer, on an airplane or a cruise ship. Rome, Hawaii and St. Maarten remained favourite vacation spots, filled with happy memories. Laura will always be remembered for her loyalty to the Toronto Blue Jays, occasionally sitting down at the ball park to cheer them on, and rarely missing a televised game. The family would like to extend their personal thanks to the staff at Kipling Acres Long Term Care, Sunnydale for their care and compassion these past 2 years. A private family service will be held at Ward’s Funeral Home (Weston Chapel) followed by a private interment beside her beloved Howard at Pleasantview Memorial Gardens, Fonthill, Ontario. If desired, in lieu of flowers, please make any memorial donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation at heartandstroke.ca, or by mailing a cheque payable to Kipling Acres, 2233 Kipling Avenue, Toronto, ON, M9W 4L3, Attn: Christine Termini. On the description line please write “In memory of Laura McGill, to the Volunteers”.
