Lambertus Huizinga

Lambertus (Bert) J. Huizinga, in his 96th year, passed away on May 15, 2023 in Brampton, Ontario. He was born on June 16, 1927 in Warffum, Netherlands to Klaziena and Lambertus Huizinga. He is survived by his children Dianne Zimmer, Herb Huizinga, Carlene Moakler, Evelyn Schutten, Rick Huizinga, nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Bert was an accomplished Pastel artist who had a passion for creating beautiful works of art and was awarded the signature “Master Pastellist” by Pastel Society of Canada. His work has been featured in galleries across the country and has won numerous awards.

In addition to his work as an artist, Bert has spent countless hours volunteering to helping those in need and was awarded The Governor General’s Caring Canadian Award. He placed his talents and abilities at the service of his community. He visits shut-ins, seniors and the ill and helps people by driving them to medical appointments and to church. Bert’s discreet neighborliness has warmed the hearts of many and makes his community a better place to live.

Bert will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
