It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Kristyn Moira Kirkwood, who died peacefully at the Village of Erin Meadows in Mississauga on the 4th day of February in the year 2023. Kristyn passed away at the age of 70, surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous 15-year battle with brain cancer.

Born June 23rd, 1952, in Windsor, Ontario, Kristyn was a loving Mother to both James Helik (Jessica) and Robert Helik (Jaime). Extremely proud ‘Gramma Moo’ of Olivia, Carleigh, Clark and Fletcher. Reunited with her late parents Mary and Kenneth Kirkwood. Cherished sister of Marissa Vaughan and Debbie Kirkwood. Kristyn will be lovingly remembered by her niece Amy (Daniel), her nephew Alan (Michelle) and their children.

Kristyn loved spending time with her family and friends. As a Mom she was always willing to sacrifice and be there for her sons, while working hard throughout her career to provide them with everything they needed. Kristyn loved to read and enjoyed her extensive book collection, gardening, elephants, the Royal Medieval Faire, and humbling all challengers at a game of Trivial Pursuit. She was especially fond of travelling to places full of history like England and Scotland, or visiting with her friends at the elephant sanctuary in Thailand.

We will miss Kristyn desperately but know she will live on forever in our hearts, and take great comfort that she is now at peace as an “Angel flying in the clouds”.

Public Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 9th from 12 - 2 P.M., followed by a Funeral Service at 2:00 P.M.
