It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Kevin Terence Meehan on Thursday April 6, 2017 at the Juravinski Hospital, Hamilton.
Kevin passed away peacefully with his wife Suzanne of 44 years and his two sons Sean and Corey by his side.
Kevin was a loving and devoted Husband, Father, Father-In-Law and Grandfather. He was extremely proud of both his sons and all that they have accomplished. He so loved being a “Grandad” and cherished every moment he could spend with his four Grandchildren Keira, Jeremy, Blake and Brayden. Grandad was always known for having a small box or two of smarties in his pocket to share.
Kevin was born in Paddock Wood, London, England on January 19, 1951 the son of Terence and Margaret Meehan. Kevin grew up in a loving family with his two sisters Lesley (Tyrrell) and Janet (Gay). He also enjoyed the friendship and love of his many cousins, aunts and uncles.
In September of 1967 Kevin at the young age of sixteen and a half joined the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers Apprentice College at Arborfield, Berkshire, England. He would go on to qualify as an Apprentice Sergeant and pass the Army Certificate of Education, First Class, in April 0f 1970. He then classified as a Radar Technician (Class 3) and was promoted to Lance Corporal, continuing his education for a further 3 months to become a Class 2, and joined the 12 Light Defense Regiment in Germany. Kevin enjoyed his time in the Army and the experiences it offered him. Kevin was also asked to take part in the Army Recruitment campaign and had his photo in many of the local newspapers, a very proud moment for his family.
In 1972 on September 16th he married his Canadian love Suzanne in Herne Bay, Kent, England. After completing a further three years in the Army in October of 1975 they set sail on the Polish Ocean Linear Stefan Batory to begin a new life in Canada. Kevin and Suzanne would eventually settle in Orleans, Ontario, where they raised their two sons
Professionally, Kevin was a results driven Senior IT Executive. He was well respected within the IT community and best remembered as someone who played fairly and within the rules. His loyalty, reliability, work ethic and honesty were a few of the attributes that Kevin possessed, along with a sharp sense of humor!
The Meehan Family would like to especially thank the Nurses and Staff at both the Juravinski Cancer Centre and Juravinski Hospital in Hamilton. Special thank you to Dr. E. McWhirter and Nurse Gerri for helping us through this long journey. We would also like to thank the staff at Wellsprings Birmingham-Gilgan in Oakville, their support helped us through this long and difficult journey.
The Family would ask that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the above groups or a charity of your choice.
Rest in Peace Kevin, you are the bravest person that I know. Love Always Suzanne xoxoxo
