KENNETH GEORGE RAMSAY It is with profound sorrow that Marie, Marianne, Carolyn and Greg mourn the passing of their dearest husband and father, Ken, on September 10, 2010, two months prior to his 80th birthday. Always the gentleman, Ken gave his three precious children his unconditional love and passed on the values he practiced during his lifetime. He had a wonderful relationship with his dear sons-in-law Ed and Steve - a relationship like father and son. His six grandchildren Ryan, Michael, Johanna, Daniel, Shaun and Julia were his pride and joy. Marie and Ken met at Goodyear in 1955, were married in Long Branch in 1958, and had the deepest love for each other over the next 52 years. Born in Mimico, Ken was a multi-sport athlete. He was a talented baseball pitcher who was scouted by the Philadelphia Phillies, continued to play competitively into his forties, and passed on his passion for the game to his grandsons. He played lacrosse for Mimico and was a quarterback for the semi-pro Moncton Royals football team. Ken was also passionate about planes and flying and obtained his pilot's license in 1953. Marie and Ken lived in Moncton, NB from 1958-1964, where Ken was in the shoe business and travelled throughout the Maritimes. Upon his return to Ontario, Ken continued working in the shoe business and travelled the world for the next 25 years, until his retirement. He loved his cottage at 3 Mile Lake and enjoyed many happy summers there with his family and friends. Ken was predeceased by his parents Mabel (Franks) and George Cecil Ramsay and his brothers and sisters Walter (Mary), Aileen (Haig), Norman (Josephine), Bill, Doris, Ted and Don. He will be deeply missed by his brother-in-law Murray, sisters-in-law Shirley and Sally, his many loving nieces and nephews and his lifelong friends Ron and Marilyn, Annette, Helen, Audrey, Glen, Rus, Mary and Ab, Rosemary and Rick, Bill and Arlene, the Faulkner, Minnings, Sandford, Morrison, Rudan and Stone families, caring neighbours, and his 3 Mile Lake friends. Special thanks go to the kind and caring nurses in the palliative care unit at the Brampton Civic Hospital and special thanks to Mercy and Shelly. May God hold you in the palm of His hand dearest Ken. 'Today, Thou shalt be with Me in Paradise'. You are the love of our lives beloved husband and father. Family and friends will be received at the Ward Funeral Home, 52 Main St. S. (Hwy. 10), Brampton on Tuesday, September 14 from 6-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 66 A Main St. S., on Wednesday, September 15 at 11:00 a.m. (Cremation).
