Passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on December 2nd at the age of 86. Devoted husband of Margaret (Sykes) for 64 wonderful years. Proud father of Peggy (David Kempton) Allie, Gail, Jim (Cynthia Smit), Rachel (Tim Greer), and Becky (Rick Woo). Cherished grandpa of 9 and adoring great grandpa of 3 (and one more on the way.)
Ken loved his family dearly. He made sure to be home for daily family dinners and enjoyed camping and cottage adventures with them. The door was always open for family and for so many others who experienced the warm hospitality and generosity offered by Ken and Marg.
Ken had a rewarding career of 40 years with Abitibi rising to Senior Vice President and as important, being an environmental conscience in a business not always in line with providing good stewardship of the earth. Ken will be remembered for living a life guided by his values. In retirement, Marg and Ken shared a commitment to community. Some of his many involvements included; beginning recycling (before it became part of the garbage collection), driving cancer patients, influencing so many young people through his lifelong work with scouting. He also enjoyed many adventures abroad. Ken and Marg traversed England and as an 83 year old Ken walked the Hadrian Wall. Friends and family will be received at Ward Funeral Home 4671 Hwy 7, Woodbridge, 905-851-9100 on Wednesday 7-9 p.m. and on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. A Celebration of Ken’s life will be held at Woodbridge United Church, 8090 Kipling Ave, on
Friday December 9th at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to a charity of your choice or the Mission and Service Fund of Woodbridge United Church would be greatly appreciated by the family.
