March 10, 1924 - March 5, 2014
It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Keith Aubrey Mitchell on March 5th, 2014, at the Oakville Trafalgar Hospital. He leaves his wife of 64 years, Elinor Kristine, his five children and six grandchildren. Keith was predeceased by his mother, Nora Christine (Samuelson) Mitchell, his father William Tremaine Mitchell, and his elder brother, Sgt. Pilot Russell Tremaine Mitchell (RCAF).
Keith attended the University of Saskatchewan, studying engineering prior to joining the R.C.A.F. Following his service in World War II, he began his career with the Beaver Lumber Company, which spanned 35 years. He retired as Vice President and General Manager and was known affectionately as "Plywood Pete". Following his retirement from Beaver Lumber he began a second career as a stock broker for ScotiaMcLeod in Toronto.
Left to mourn his passing are his wife Elinor, children Shelley (son Roderick), Jacqueline (daughter Hillary), Cameron (Carol), Laurie (Colleen, daughters Tara (Jared) and Amanda) and Geraldine (sons Mitchell and Liam).
Memorial service will be held Friday, March 14, 2014, at the Ward Funeral Home, 109 Reynolds St.,Oakville, Ontario, beginning 11:00 am, with reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
