Julia Catarina Ferreira Nobre

It is with great sadness that the family of Julia Catarina Ferreira Nobre announce her peaceful passing on August 2, 2020, at the age of 88 years.

Julia was born in Lagos, Portugal to Joaquina Ferreira and Manuel Afonso. She married her love Jose Nobre Pedro in 1958 and emigrated with her husband and son to Canada in November 1965. Julia had a successful career as a professional dressmaker including a long tenure at Malabar Costumes in Toronto; having outfitted many theatrical and musical performers. Julia loved to garden and prepare meals for her family. Over the years, Julia collected a large library of romance novels. She also loved to watch murder mysteries and kept busy in recent years completing many word search puzzles, and reading on her kindle.

Julia was predeceased by her loving husband of 57 years, Jose Nobre Pedro. Dearly missed by her son Peter and his wife Tracey; Cherished grandmother of Lauren (Cory) and Quinn and great-grandmother of Mila. She will be fondly remembered by her younger sister Rosa in Portugal and by her other family members and friends.

The family will receive family and friends on Thursday August 6, 2020 from 4 - 7 p.m. at Ward Funeral Home, 4671 Hwy #7 (West of Pine Valley Dr.), Woodbridge, ON. A private funeral service celebrating her life will be held the following morning on Friday August 7,2020 in the Ward Chapel at 11 a.m.

Flowers are welcome; memorial contributions may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation in honour of Julia.

In accordance with the directives provided from the Bereavement Authority of Ontario, funeral services may be held within the funeral home with 30 % capacity of visitations rooms and the onsite chapel. Funeral Services may also be held at a place of worship with the same 30% capacity mandate. Wearing of masks, or face coverings, by everyone is mandatory as per the directives of the Bereavement Authority. This includes ALL staff and attendees. Masks will be provided to those guests who may not have their own.
