Judy Paisley

Judith Helen Austin Paisley

September 16, 1937 – February 5, 2017

Mother, grandmother, friend, and beloved wife of the late Ian Paisley. Judy will be deeply missed by her children I. Kent (Chris Pinto) and Martha (Mike Pedersen); her grandchildren Brynn, Duff, Jack, Katie, and Matthew; her sister Penny (Doug Wilkinson); her Paisley sisters- and brothers-in-law; her many nieces and nephews; her cherished godchildren; and her many devoted and life-long friends. Born to Helen Giles and John Alexander (Jack) McDonald Austin in Toronto, Judy grew up in Bennington Heights and spent nine wonderful summers at Camp Inawendawin. After receiving her BA at the University of Western Ontario, where she was a majorette and met Ian, she spent a memorable summer with friends in Europe. Judy and Ian married in 1962 and enjoyed nearly 53 years of fun and adventure in Collingwood and Muskoka and at Caledon Ski Club and Lambton Golf Club. Ian’s studies and career took the family to Dayton, OH and Kalamazoo, MI. While away, Judy received her Masters in Library Science, which led to a successful 30-year career at the Etobicoke and Toronto Public Libraries. “Lucy” to her many friends, and “Nucy” to her grandchildren, Judy will be fondly remembered for her smile, her impeccable style, her delicious turkey, her love of books, her backseat driving, her excellent sense of humor, her dinner parties, her love of family, and her kind and gentle way with children.

“A Toast to Nucy”, as her grandchildren would often cheer.
