Judy Snow

Judith Ellen Snow (nee Bradley)

May 10, 1943-April 20, 2025

Judy passed away peacefully at Etobicoke General Hospital. Beloved wife of David Snow, loving mother of Adam (Erin Carter) and Amy (Derrick Burns). Adoring grandmother of Piper, Levi, Brad, and Charlotte. Predeceased by father John Bradley and mother Dorothy (Hood) Bradley.

After attending Lawrence Park Collegiate, Judy graduated from the University of Toronto with a General Arts degree (Faculty of Arts & Science/York, Glendon campus) in 1964, and a Library Science degree in 1965. She married David the same year. They started a family in 1972 with the arrival of Adam, and shortly after began building a cottage on Lake Miskwabi in Haliburton. Amy arrived in 1976, and the stage was set for decades of family fun and growth, including the pleasure of many pets that brought great joy to her life.

Judy’s career as a librarian with the U of T took her through the Faculty of Education, The Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE), Chief Librarian at Erindale College (now UTM), back to OISE as Co-Director of the newly established and innovative Education Commons, and culminating in four years as Deputy Chief Librarian for the University of Toronto libraries, until retirement in 2007. She was known as an empathetic, innovative and hard-working leader, and a trusted advisor. Through 42 years, Judy relied on early experience to support expanding responsibilities, and thoroughly enjoyed each assignment.

Highlights of her retirement included volunteering, pursuing lifetime learning through participation in lecture series, and many memorable times at the cottage.

Her family will be convening in the near future to share memories.

Judy was recently interested in organizations that promote community welfare and environmental conservation. Donations in her memory to SIRCH Community Services and Haliburton Highlands Land Trust would be greatly appreciated.
