Peacefully, in the presence of loving family at Brampton Civic Hospital.
Loving husband of Alice Louise Earle (1998). Survived by their twelve children:
Linda (Jim) McLaughlin, Susan (Len) Emond, Catherine (late Eric) Fuller, Pauline Dickson, Joseph Sellors, Joanne Sellors, Sandra (John) Payne, Michael (Eileen) Sellors, James (Mary) Sellors, Jennifer (Andrew) Paschalis, Christine (Allan) Marsh, Janet (Steve) Brooks.
25 Grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren
A life-long Brampton boy, Joe was the son of Joseph (1968) and Myrtle (1985) Sellors, predeceased by sisters, Helen Walter, Audrey Lyons, Jean Mashinter, brother, Jack Sellors and survived by his brother, Ross (Eleanor) Sellors and sisters-in-law Rosemary Wilson and Catherine Kirby.
During WWII years, Joe, an Air Cadet, joined the RCAF as an LAC then the RC Army serving in Ontario until demobilised in August 1946.
Joe and his wife Alice married in 1945 and built their home in Brampton, in which they raised their family. Joe worked at the Dale Estate, Imperial Optical and The Gummed Papers from 1957 to retirement.
He joined The Lorne Scots Peel Regiment, took up the pipes and then the pipes took him on a life long journey far and wide including to The Edinburgh Tattoo in 1960 as the Pipe Major. He will be remembered by many as he played his pipes in; celebration, remembrance and lament.
Among Joe’s many recognitions he received the Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal and the Rotary Paul Harris Fellow. He took great pride in his many years of donating blood for which he was recently honoured with the Canada 125 Medal.
Family and friends will be received at the Ward Funeral Home, 52 Main Street South (Hwy #10), Brampton on Wednesday April 19, 2017 from 2:00 – 4:00 and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at Grace United Church, 156 Main Street North, Brampton on Thursday April 20, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Brampton Cemetery.
