It is with sad hearts we share the passing of Joseph Priel on Wednesday November 23, 2022 at the Age of 96.
Joe has now joined his dear wife Patricia (1929-2004) he will be sadly missed by his devoted son Jim (Joanne) much loved granddaughter Hope and his Granddogs Bailey and Mia who loved his visits.
Joe was born July 3rd 1926 in Holland Center, Ontario to William and Veronica and was the youngest brother to Camellia, Wilfred and Mary Ellen (Mae) who have all predeceased him in death.
Joe shared many happy times with his Moore/Priel family members at July and December gatherings where he had a chance to catch up and enjoy the good food. He equally enjoyed his Christmas dinners with Patricia’s side of the family. He will be sadly missed by his many Nieces, Nephews and their families. He would always comment with a little laugh “the food was some good”
He will also be sadly missed by his Kentroyal neighbours where you would see him out with his snowblower clearing driveways even in his 90’s. Joe’s Alcona neighbours would see him on his riding lawn mower getting his chores done. Joe always measured how good of a day it was by what he was able to get done. Special mention to Betty Mosher for always checking in on Joe to make sure he was ok.
Joe was a proud member of Local 793 Operating Engineers that he retired from at the age of 68. He enjoyed going to his union meetings and catching up with fellow operators and former coworkers. Joe loved to talk about the jobs he had worked on.
Friends and family will be received at Ward Funeral Home, Weston Chapel, located at 2035 Weston Road, Toronto, ON at 12:00pm on Saturday, December 3rd until the time of service in the chapel at 1:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Sunnybrook Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
