Joseph Chiuchiolo
We announce with great sadness the passing of Joseph Chiuchiolo at Humber River Hospital, after a recent illness, on July 8, 2016, just several weeks shy of his 83rd birthday. He leaves behind his beloved wife and soulmate of 48 years Romana [nee Erisini].
Predeceased by his parents Pietro and Concettina [nee Colangelo], and his sister’s-in-law Corisca and Ottarina. Joseph will be missed by his sister Grazia and brother-in-law Nicola and nephew John Salvagna and his wife Carm as well as other family members and friends.
Joseph was born in Monteleone, Puglia, August 5th, 1934. He had a passion for history and languages that continued while attending the University of Naples. Upon emigrating to Canada in the early 1960’s he began his career as a translator for the Canadian Italian language newspaper, Corriere Canadese. After several years and continuing studies, he began working for several law firms in the city and found his true career calling specializing as a real estate paralegal.
He never lost his connection to friends and family in Italy as he and Romana travelled back every year. During their retirement years they extended their time in Italy enjoying their home in Florence and visiting friends and family in the Tuscany region.
Family and friends will be received at the Ward Funeral Home [Weston Chapel], 2035 Weston Road, Toronto, on Tuesday, July 12th, 2016 from 3-8 p.m. A private cremation will be held at the Riverside Crematorium.
As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations to a Charitable organization of your preference would be greatly appreciated by the family.
