Joseph Bogner, of King City, passed away peacefully at home on January 23, 2025, surrounded by the love of his devoted wife of 70 years, Erna.
Born in Yugoslavia, Joseph experienced a childhood marked by resilience. In 1944, his family was evacuated to Austria, where he trained as an arc welder. In November 1953, Joseph immigrated to Canada aboard the Grootebeer ship. It was during this journey that he met Erna, the love of his life. The two were married on December 31, 1954, and together, they built a remarkable life.
Joseph and Erna co-founded Dynahyd Equipment Limited, a successful steel fabrication company, which they managed with dedication until their retirement in 2008. In the early 1980s, Joseph demonstrated his community spirit by sponsoring a boys' hockey team in Concord, Ontario, near their business.
In 1992, Joseph and Erna made King City their permanent home. They cherished their travels to Mexico, where they owned a vacation property, and enjoyed peaceful summers at their cottage in Gravenhurst. Joseph found immense joy in swimming and spending time near the water.
Joseph is survived by his beloved wife Erna (née Pauli), his sister Anna Bogner, and his sister-in-law Greta Emrich (née Pauli). He will be lovingly remembered by his many cousins, nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Josef and Eva Bogner (née Legler), his elder brother Paul and sister-in-law Selma (née Tetzlaff), his younger brother Mathias, and his brother-in-law George Emrich.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer Society of Ontario would be appreciated by the family.
