On Wednesday April 20, 2022 the Lord took unto Himself our beloved father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was the loving husband to Alice (nee Roodzant) for 63 years and was the beloved father of Nelly and Keith Hoeksema, Margaret and Grant Kottelenberg, Anthony (Tony) and Catherine (Rena) Tenhage and Anita and Clarence Jansen. Loving Opa to 16 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by his grandson, Marten Jansen.
John will be missed by his siblings, Bertha (Auke+) Hoekstra, Cor and Hennie Tenhage, Bert and Jane Tenhage, Jean and John VanHemert, (Larry + and Alice + Tenhage) Jennie and Maarten VanDriel, Margaret and Jake Kuizenga and his in-laws (George+, Tina+ Roodzant), Jane and (Klare+) Knol, Nellie and John Vis, Connie (Len Stieva+ Robert Petrie+) Jerry and Margaret Roodzant, Edward and Paddy Roodzant, Toni and John Kottelenberg.

John was born August 5, 1931 in Emmen, The Netherlands, then immigrated with his family in April 1952. Dad and Mom have been members of the Canadian Reformed Church in Brampton their whole married life, with dad serving as elder for many years. They were blessed to have lived for 17 years in Holland Christian Home, with the last month and a half in Faith Manor. We are thankful for the care he received in the last years.

Friends may visit with family on Monday, April 25,2022 from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at Horizon Hall (Holland Christian Home) from 2 – 4pm and 7 – 9pm at Grace Canadian Reformed Church. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, April 26, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Canadian Reformed Church. Rev. M. VanLuik officiating. Interment service will follow. The family would like to invite you back to the church for a standing reception. There will be live stream available.
