JOHN (JACK) SMITH

Veteran of World War II and member of the Canadian Legion for over 60 years.

It is with great sorrow that the family announces the passing of John on Monday July 5th, 2010 in his 96th year. He lived a healthy and balanced life. Beloved husband of the late Margaret “Peggy” (1990).Loving father of the late Nancy, survived by son-in-law Jim and daughter Margaret (Phil Roach). Cherished Gramps of Greg (Stacey), Cathie (Pino), Corey (Pam) and great gramps of Amanda, Joey, Kaleb, Logan and Jade. Predeceased by his parents Isabella Reid and Alexander Smith (Of Scotland) brother Alex, sister Jessie. John will be fondly remembered by his extended family and friends. A heartfelt thanks to all the staff and friends at Leisure World-Etobicoke who provided him with love and care for the last three years.
Friends will be received at the Ward Funeral Home, 2035 Weston Road (north of Lawrence Ave. W.) Weston on Tuesday from 7-9 and Wednesday from 2-4and 7-9. A Celebration of John’s life will be held in the chapel on Thursday July 8th, 2010 at 11a.m. Interment to follow at Sanctuary Park Cemetery.
