John "Jack" Robertson
November 30, 1924 - January 8, 2022
Passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 8, 2022 doing what he enjoyed most, watching his Toronto Maple Leafs.
He will be sadly missed by his sister Norma Hewitt, sons John (Robbie) Robertson (Barbara), Brian Robertson, daughter Donna Gage (Gary) and his 7 grandkids and 7 Great Grandkids.
Jack was born in Toronto. As a teenager he enrolled in the Navy and spent many harrowing nights patrolling the North Atlantic on convoy duty during WWII. After the war he drove a bus for a few years before being hired by the T Eaton Co where he worked in Men's clothing department and ultimately as a Menswear buyer for the company. He later worked as a Gas Bar Manager then Field Merchandising Coordinator for Canadian Tire. He was also the model for "Mister Pit Stop".
He had a sharp mind and incredible sense of humour to the very end. He was a devoted and knowledgeable Toronto Maple Leaf and Blue Jays fan. When he was not cheering on his Maple Leafs or Blue Jays he spent his time reading, listening & singing along to music, watching old movies or playing cards. During COVID Sunday evenings were normally spent playing cards virtually with his family.
He enjoyed spending summers at his trailer and winters in Florida. His travels took him to the Yukon for Klondike Days, to Pasadena California for the Rose Bowl parade, Gettysburg for the history, Branson Missouri, for the entertainment, the Grand Canyon for the scenery and China, at age 90, just because he could.
He spent 20 years in Elliott Lake until the passing of his third wife, Pearl in 2020, where they were active members of the Renaissance Centre, and the Salvation Army. He was a DJ for Pearl's dance group and a member of the "Misfits" performing in several Variety shows for the community.
Due to COVID a celebration of life will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to your favourite charity or the Salvation Army.
