John Jario Parra
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of John Jario Parra. He passed away peaceful at St. Joseph's Hospital surrounded by his sisters and nieces. John Jario immigrated from Colombia, South America in the summer of 1990 and immediately fell in love with Canada. The last 30 years of his life was spent here in Toronto, making this city his home. No one in this whole family knows Toronto the way John Jario did, a lover of the TTC, he always made sure to have his metro-pass because he always refused a ride home because the subway system here was "the best".
Son of the late Ivan Dario Parra and Martha Libia Parra, he leaves behind his beloved mother, Siblings, Blanca (Arrubla), Marina (Rendon), Martha Cecelia (Parra), Ivan Dario (Parra), Pre-deceased Orlando (Parra), Luz Adela (Parra) and Rosalba (Parra). Neices and Nephews, Lilyana, Janet, Darlene, Luis Guillermo, Jhony, Litz Mayori, Pre-deceased Leidy Natalia, Felipe, Jorge Ivan, Pre-Deceased Jaime, Ivan Orlando, Jose David, Louisa, Angelo and Gregorio Luis. Along with a longer list of Great Neices and nephews and even managed to have been blessed with Great-Great Nieces and Nephews.
There was no one he loved more in this world than his mother, calling almost 10 times a day just to say hi or see how she was. Constant visits to his mom came with BINGO scratch cards, games of Parques (letting his mom win), flowers, fruits and treats. Every visit, when the front door open was met with a "Where is my momma". He was a fiercely private person, live and let live, always a kind word for EVERYONE and the first one to run around if you needed anything. Lived the last 25 years in the same building, friends with all. Never asked for anything, always a helping hand. Hearts are broken with his passing but none as devastated as his mother.
Rest in peace "La Fiera" gone but never forgotten.
