On Christmas Eve, John Hugh McKee passed away peacefully at Ian Anderson house surrounded by many loving family members, and joined his beloved wife Marion in time for Christmas. He was a true gentleman who touched many lives with his kindness, sense of humour and generosity over the course of his 83 years.
He joins his wife Marion, who predeceased him by 8 years as well as his sister in law, Shirley Samuelsen and many family pets, most recently his dog Emma. He is survived by his children, Diana (Dennis), Dan, Patti (Bill) and Cathy (Mark); his grandchildren Stephanie (Doug), Jonathan, Megan, Rebecca and Kayla; his sister, Isabella (Tom); his sister-in-law Bev (Bob); his nieces and nephews Rob, Marilyn (Dave), Don (Cathy), Anne (Brian), and Della (Vinny).
He is remembered fondly for his sense of charity that drove so much of his life, and was driven by generosity that will always be felt. His generosity extended from being a teaching handyman for friends to providing a home for teens with no place to go.
Visitation and funeral were held in Oakville, and donations are gratefully accepted to Ian Anderson House for the loving care they provided to John, Munn’s United Church for the loving community they provided, and cancer research so we find a cure one day.
We trust there’s ice cream and watermelon in heaven; we know he was welcomed there into the loving arms of family.
