MARTHERUS, John Otto After a brief battle with Cancer, John Martherus in his 80th year, died peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Saturday, August 29, 2009. Loving husband of Gerda. Proud father of Robert (Shirley), Millie, Fred (Jill), and Jim (Cathleen). Cherished Opa of Jordan, Jeff, Kaleigh, Emma, and Alexander. Caring brother of Nicolette Krol and Nico Martherus. He will also be missed by many nieces and nephews. John's love for family, friends, and life was passionate and he will be greatly missed. Special thanks to Dr. John Graham, Doctors and Nurses at William Osler Hospital, Nurses from Holland Christian Homes, and especially Nurse Deby from Spectrum. Visitation will be at the Ward Funeral Home Brampton Chapel, 52 Main Street South (Hwy 10), Brampton on Thursday, September 3, 2009 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 4, 2009 at 11am at Ward Funeral Home Brampton Chapel followed by interment at Brampton Memorial Gardens and reception at 1:00 pm in Harmony Hall, Holland Christian Homes, 7900 McLaughlin Road South, Brampton. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society and the Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated.
