John Cecil Le Messurier of Brampton died January 4th, 2023, at the Brampton Civic Hospital after suffering a fall. He was 88.
Born July 14, 1934 in St. Peter Port, Guernsey, in the Channel Islands UK, John was a child evacuee during the Nazi invasion in 1940. Arriving in Langside Hall, Glasgow, he was received by the Fairley Family and spent the next five years in their care in Kirkintilloch, Scotland. In 1945, John was repatriated to Guernsey where he remained for one year before returning to Scotland to finish his education. After John completed his schooling, he apprenticed with the Kirkintilloch Herald for six years before serving in the RAF as an air traffic controller as part of his UK National Service. After his service in the RAF, he worked as a compositor for the Daily Express in Glasgow. In 1961, John married Ann Piggot and they had a son, John, in 1966. John and his family emigrated to Canada in December 1967, arriving in Toronto. They lived in Downsview before settling in Bramalea in 1968, and in 1971 they had a daughter, Zoe. In Canada, John worked as a printing sales manager before starting his own business, John Le Messurier and Associates in 1982. In 1994 John became a proud grandpa to Jessica and fully retired in 2018.
John was always the life of the party and never missed an opportunity to do an impromptu impersonation or perform gags to everyone's delight.
In his leisure, John liked to play as well as watch golf and was an accomplished handyman among many other hobbies he pursued throughout his life.
John is survived by his wife of 61 years, Ann, his sister Nancy (who is 98) in Australia, and his son John, daughter Zoe, granddaughter Jessica, his nieces and nephews in Guernsey, Karen Le Messurier, the Rajpaul family and his many close friends. He loved all his family and his many faithful dogs.
He is predeceased by his sister Betty, Brother Leonard, Sister Hazel, and Brother Cecil.
He was loved by all and will be deeply missed.
